VA – My HealtheVet
 THE OBJECTIVE
Perform user interface design, software development, testing, and deployment of VA’s My HealtheVet(MHV) healthcare web portal for veterans, their families, and healthcare providers. This portal supports over 450,000 users, providing access to healthcare information, and services such as patient scheduling and prescription refills.
 THE SOLUTION

Aquilent's user interface design team strives to constantly improve the usability and accessibility of the MHV portal. Our software development team creates and maintains portal components and features, integrates new capabilities into the web portal architecture, and ensures continuing operation of the production system. Our testing team ensures the overall quality and correct operation of MHV.  Features of MHV include:

  • Pharmacy services, including prescription refill, prescription history, and personal medications log;
  • Tracking veterans’ health, including recording allergies and immunizations; monitoring blood pressure, body weight and other vitals; and maintaining journals of exercise and food intake;
  • Getting care, including appointment information, facility locators, insurance information and co-pay balances;
  • Researching healthcare information, including common conditions, VA health programs, and a Medical Library

The MHV portal is built in Java, upon BEA Weblogic Portal, and is developed in an iterative process using RUP and CMMI Level 2 processes. MHV integrates with the VA VistA healthcare systems including the Master Patient Index, to offer Veterans access to personal health records.

VA’s MHV delivers information and services directly to Veterans, resulting in: 

  • Easy access to healthcare information specifically relevant to veterans, their families and their health providers
  • Web-based services such as prescription refill and patient scheduling at VA Medical Centers
